The two films would be directed by Justin Lin, who already has extensive experience in the franchise. He was the director of Fast & Furious, Fast & Furious Tokyo, Fast & Furious 6 and of the film that will be released next year.

The plan was to continue the adventure with Fast & Furious 9 during May 2020. However, COVID-19 ruined his plans – and those of the entire film industry. Finally, the film ** will wait until May 2021 **, as long as the coronavirus allows it. In fact, its latest delay was caused by No Time to Die, as Universal adjusted the latter’s calendar for April 2, 2021, a day that previously belonged to Fast & Furious 9.

Fast & Furious is one of the most successful brands in Universal Pictures history. According to data from The Hollywood Reporter, to date all feature films – including Hobbs & Shaw – have generated a total of $ 5.89 billion worldwide.
