Believe it or not, the eleventh Fast & Furious movie will end the main story of the franchise, according to trusted Hollywood sources.
The popular Fast & Furious 9 saga will end its main story in the eleventh film, Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter report. As incredible as it may seem, Universal Pictures would have decided to end the gold mine that Vin Diesel and other actors starred in since 2001. However, apparently the production company has not yet given up on the spin-offs of the franchise. Let’s remember that in 2019 Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw was released.
Also, both sources ensure that the final will be divided into two feature films. That is, Fast & Furious 10 and Fast & Furious premiere delayed will be responsible for closing the curtain on the main story. The two films would be directed by Justin Lin, who already has extensive experience in the franchise. He was the director of Fast & Furious, Fast & Furious Tokyo, Fast & Furious 6 and of the film that will be released next year.
The plan was to continue the adventure with Fast & Furious 9 during May 2020. However, COVID-19 ruined his plans – and those of the entire film industry. Finally, the film ** will wait until May 2021 **, as long as the coronavirus allows it. In fact, its latest delay was caused by No Time to Die, as Universal adjusted the latter’s calendar for April 2, 2021, a day that previously belonged to Fast & Furious 9.
Fast & Furious is one of the most successful brands in Universal Pictures history. According to data from The Hollywood Reporter, to date all feature films – including Hobbs & Shaw – have generated a total of $ 5.89 billion worldwide. Of course, the company is not going to give up on those assured blockbusters. It is very likely that in the coming years we will see more spin-offs and even series on streaming video platforms. Will it also be Vin Diesel’s last appearance? We will know in the future.
